Sidney “The Sid” Watts has been an NFL linebacker since 2002.
His NFL career began as a free agent following the 1995 season and he was one of the top free agent linebackers in NFL history.
The San Francisco 49ers drafted Watts with the second overall pick in the 1998 NFL draft and he became a three-time Pro Bowl linebacker.
Watts was a member of the New York Giants Super Bowl team in 2003, 2005 and 2008, and he won two Super Bowl rings.
He has won two more Super Bowls with the Indianapolis Colts.
Watts joined the NFLPA as a legal adviser and has advised teams such as the Baltimore Ravens and the Los Angeles Chargers on issues of player safety and concussion protocols.
He is also a former NFL player safety representative and was the former director of the NFL’s concussion policy and program.
Watts is a former captain of the San Francisco Giants.
He retired as a member, a member for life, of the National Football League’s Hall of Fame in 2021.
He was inducted into the NFL Hall of Honor in 2009.
Watt has written more than 20 books, including his new memoir, “Sidney Watts.”
He is a founding partner and co-founder of the legal firm Sidney Powell, where he has represented athletes in various lawsuits.
The Associated Press Sports Editors named Watts their 2017 Sports Person of the Year.
He will appear on ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” in November.
